The Tricare Dental Plan (TDP) is a voluntary dental insurance plan. Dental benefits are provided by United Concordia and are available to active duty family members, National Guard and Reserve members and their families. Available in the United States (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS).

In order for you to be eligible for TDP, your sponsor must have at least 12 months of his or her wages at the time of enrollment. Eligible family members are spouses and children up to the age of 21 (or 23 if students are in full-time education). You sign up for 12 months.
There are two fees associated with TDP, monthly fees and installment payments. Monthly payments depend on the status of the sponsor and the number of people covered by the plan (individual vs. family). Cost sharing is based on the services provided, the sponsor's copay, and the location (CONUS/OCONUS) where treatment is provided.
The fee is a "pay it forward" plan, meaning you pay this month's premium to get coverage for the next month. If you are working hard, you can set up a deposit to pay the bills, or you can set up regular payments from a checking account or credit/debit card.
If you don't pay your monthly premium, your coverage will end and you won't be able to re-enroll for another 12 months.

Cost-sharing is what you pay out-of-pocket for certain services. Your cost sharing is determined by your pay grade and whether you have CONUS or OCONUS. The following table shows the cost figures.
The TDP contract year is from 1 May to 30 April. The maximum annual fee is $1,500 per person per contract year, for non-orthodontic services. Payment for certain diagnostic and preventive services does not exceed the annual maximum.
A maximum of $1,750 per person for orthodontic treatment. If a member receives orthodontic services, the costs for these services shall not exceed $1,750 during the member's eligibility period.
In the OCONUS service area, the government will pay all costs above the authorized cost until the loan is paid. This applies to all entrants except Valda Reserve and IRR family members and IRR members (other than the Special Awakening Unit).
